Morning Prayer
No shadows yet
still silent
whispers rising
to my lips from my
heart…
or maybe
entering my blood
through my own
breath
half-wakeful
working beat by slow
morning-song beat
toward my heart
to gather like cells
enriched
bright sunbreak-red
until my chest bursts my
eyes
roll back and
the bitter-sweet taste
of iron and manna
fills my mouth
