Write How This Adds Up
It's not the worksheet,
not the test.
It’s the moment
you leaned in, heard
her poem in fractured English
about rain on a roof
she didn’t own.
It’s the eraser ground flat
by a boy trying again.
It's the way
you remember their stories
even years after they’ve left.
This— this is how
it adds up: not in grades,
but in lives
intertwined.
