I Ditched the Curriculum
It was falling apart anyway— those
perfect objectives, the pacing guide
that clicked like a metronome until
the beat broke and the room went silent.
So I gathered poems instead— resistance,
rhythm, voices that lit up the digital square.
We sat, me and my students, eighth graders
and a poet with no ceiling, watching
the shape of learning change
right before us.
What is a president?
What is a poem?
What if we write
the world into being?
