Behind the Eyes

The boy with

his perfect eyes,

deep pools of color,

in this posed moment

is the shining

sarcophagus

they will place

the body

within

We will not watch

as flesh shrivels

beneath linen wrappings

they have

already removed

spleen, lungs, liver

heart

Anytime, night

or day
