At Renoir's Table
The day
is always rainy
the men have their
yellow hats
and the women
are flowers,
each is attentive
except the dog woman her hairy
pup right up
among glasses and bottles
of wine
the fruit sitting close and she,
ready to kiss
the dog
right on its wet
nose
and he has us—
we wait
in the rain
for this woman who will
never
quite press
her rouged lips
onto Renoir's
mutt
