Rock Salt
we stole
from the water softener
in Kirk's basement
and took the pills into our
mouths
like magic
to see visions
popping salt
in a dark corner behind
boxes of
church tracts
Bible study film strips
and worn out shoes
we were Apaches
running over miles of desert
without water
