What We Carry Forward
Not all that came before
must be folded away.
Some pieces belong to the future—
the steady hand of a mentor,
the laughter from a late meeting,
the stubborn hope of a small team
that stayed late to finish.
When the paint is fresh
and the name has changed,
we still recognize each other.
Not by titles,
but by the way
we pause to ask,
"Does this feel like us?"
We build again—not from scratch,
but from soil already rich
with effort, memory, and care.
