What Holds It All
The music was never the notes.
It was the spaces between them—
the silence that gave
each sound a place to land.
I thought my life was
the work I did,
but it turns out, what holds
it all is the breath
between the tasks, the pause
before the answer,
the light sifting through
the leaves.
