The Space Between the Notes
She learned rhythm to keep time.
He learned spelling to avoid mistakes.
They both learned rules— to stay in step,
to get the grade, to finish.
But the music they loved came from
the quiet part: when they were asked,
What would you create
if no one else was watching?
