The Dumping of Gravel
Right in the middle of the song,
they dumped gravel outside
the window— thunder on top of melody.
I thought to stomp out, say,
“Can’t you see we’re recording?”
But instead, we let it stay. Let the stones
fall into the rhythm, let the noise
become part of the harmony.
This is how self-care
begins: not in silence, but in allowing
the world to keep happening
and still singing through it.
