A Widow, Against Her Better Judgment, Allows One
Free Call To Be Made On Her Cellular Phone During The Chicago
Christian Widow's "Homeless Day".
Ruby stood about five- foot; two
feet flowed out of those
scarlet- poly pant legs where
she stomped hatred
into
the
linoleum,
ricocheting it back up and
through her gums
onto the phone line.
Around her,
poverty tangoed with
the
reusable-plastic
Burger King cups being
doled
out
by
grandmothers
who,
clean handed and miles
away
from
their
domino-riddled leisure
centers,
smiled
purpose-full at greasy skylines
accompanied
by Ruby's
Red
Pants.
