Lyrics

Verse 1 She keeps her creams in a velvet pouch, Bought a red light mask from a homegrown grouch, Laughs at herself in the morning glass, Says, “I ain’t young, but I’ve got class.” Chorus She’s haunted and glowing, fierce and fine, Wears her age like a mountain pine, Roots run deep and branches wide, Storms may howl, but she won’t hide. Verse 2 She don’t chase youth, she’s got its bones, Dances in the kitchen when she’s all alone, Says, “They sold me lies, and I bought the set— But now I’m older, I just forget.” Chorus She’s haunted and glowing, bold and bent, Living each hour like it’s heaven-sent, Silver hair and a coyote grin, She lost the map, but she’s walkin’ in.

Song story & origins

Amy had been asking “Chad” to help her sort through exercise plans, diets, and all those promises about holding back the years. She said it pushed back on the beauty standards behind her request, then gave the plan a name: “Haunted and Glowing.” Well, that was a phrase worth keeping. The group enjoyed it, and it picked up more meaning as they talked about age, confidence, and Amy’s life after cancer. The song took that unlikely little title and let it shine, with some weather in it and a sense of humor.
